About Us
The SUU Waukeenyans are a nationally ranked dance team. The team members come from all over the state and are highly skilled and trained dancers.
The Waukeenyans are part of the SUU Spirit Squad, which gives them the opportunity to cheer sideline at Football, Basketball, and (new this year) Volleyball!
Aside from cheering, you will see the Waukeenyans perform during halftimes, as well as many other school and community events.
As a team, the Waukeenyans attend a Collegiate Dance Camp during the summer, as well as a National College Competition in the spring.
The Waukeenyans are under the direction of McCall Scott. McCall has performed all over the Western United States training with masters such as Mia Michaels, Joe Tremaine, Wade Robinson, Rire Woodbury, and more. She has danced in many commercials, conventions, and fashion shows. McCall is New York City Ballet Certified and has been teaching dance for over 9 years from Southern Utah to Las Vegas. Since living in Cedar, McCall has been successful as a dance team coach on both the High School and College level. Her High School team, Mohey Tawa, has earned the Region Championship title, by sweeping the competition 3 years in a row, and last year won the State Championship trophy. She also is owner and director of Gravity Dance Center. Now in her third year as Waukeenyan Coach, she continues to bring the team to new levels.
Scholarships
Partial to full tuition waiver scholarships are offered to all members of the Spirit Squad.
Scholarships are usually granted to team members based on a number of factors including: number of team members, other scholarships you are receiving, your number of years as a Waukeenyan, leadership positions on the team, etc.
We can usually give you a definite amount by the end of July.
Cost
$250 non-refundable camp payment due by July 1st
With the exception of make-up, photos, and any other "extras," all other expenses are covered by SUU.
Each dancer will receive practice clothes, dance shoes & tights, warm-ups & cheer shoes, and a team shirt. All other costumes will be borrowed from the Waukeenyan costume closet.
